Vodafone Idea Accelerates 5G Expansion Across India, Strengthens Connectivity on Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3
Vodafone Idea expands its 5G services across multiple Indian cities including Punjab, Bhopal, and Tamil Nadu, while strengthening network coverage on Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3. The rollout enhances high-speed connectivity, AI-driven network optimisation, and commuter mobile access across key urban and transit corridors in India.
In Punjab, Vodafone Idea has commercially launched 5G services in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Patiala, with plans to extend coverage to Amritsar within the current month. In Madhya Pradesh, the company has also introduced 5G connectivity in Bhopal. Further expansion has been carried out in Tamil Nadu, where services have been activated in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Vellore.
According to the company, the expanded 5G rollout enables customers in these cities to access high-definition video streaming, cloud gaming, video conferencing, faster downloads, and real-time cloud-based applications. Vodafone Idea has stated that it has deployed AI-powered Self-Optimising Networks to enhance service quality and network performance, ensuring stable connectivity across densely populated urban areas, industrial manufacturing zones, and key tourist destinations.
Separately, Vodafone Idea announced the restoration and operationalisation of its mobile network across 16 stations on Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3, covering the stretch from Aarey JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk. With this development, commuters now have access to voice and data services across major stations including Seepz MIDC Andheri, Marol Naka, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 2, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, and Worli.
The company noted that services had been temporarily disrupted in these areas earlier. It also stated that restoration efforts are ongoing for Phase 2 of the Aqua Line 3 corridor, which includes 11 additional stations between Science Centre and Cuffe Parade, with completion expected over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Airtel has also reportedly restored its network services on the same metro line between Aarey JVLR and Bandra Kurla Complex stations.
The expansion underscores Vodafone Idea’s continued push to strengthen nationwide 5G deployment alongside improving urban transit connectivity, particularly in high-density infrastructure corridors such as Mumbai’s metro system.
